How many days can the Hydro-trache II be used on 1 patient? REF 1873

In line with our other Filter HME products the 1873's have only been validated for use up to 24 hours.

Are the intersurgical microbacterial airway filters effective in filtering out viruses? I ask in the question in light of concern with managing potential swine/pandemic flu cases on ventilators or NIV.

Our filters are designed to be effective bacterial and viral filters. We validate them externally with both the Health protection agency and Nelson Laboratories.

is it ok that O2 be given to an unconciouss patient attached to the CO2 port of the HME filter on an LMA? I have seen this done and am not sure that it is acceptable. I dont know what O2% is being delivered to the pt?

I am a patient with Sleep Apnoea diagnosed and have been given a CPAP machine to use at night. I have also been given a Hydro-Therm HME filter to place in the tubing line before the mask to humidify the air and reduce dryness in my mouth. Can you please tell me how this works and is it effective for this application?

You have stated that saline can be used in the IPPB chamber in your FAQ section. As a physiotherapist I have always been taught to use saline as we shouldn't be delivering dry oxygen to patients. What does your company recommend with these IPPB circuits? Must we use saline in the chamber? Does the manufacturer recommend using nothing in the neb chamber and delivering dry oxygen to patient?
