is it ok that O2 be given to an unconciouss patient attached to the CO2 port of the HME filter on an LMA? I have seen this done and am not sure that it is acceptable. I dont know what O2% is being delivered to the pt?
This is not something we would recommend as we have no data regarding delivered Fio2. If you have a spontaneously breathing patient and this is at the end of an anaesthetic procedure we would recommend that you remove the filter HME and attach an oxygen recovery T piece.
